Things about me I never knew

I googled myself tonight. Everyone does it. Some of us even admit to it.

Here's what I found out about myself.

I'm a Research Geologist for the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, having obtained a B.S. in Geology from California Institute of Technology in 1969 (a year before I was born)

I'm a 6'5", 195 lb, Wide Receiver for West Virginia currently eligible for the 2005 NFL Draft. According to the internet, I've got a bit of a bad attitude, and didn't really cause any sadness when I declared for the NFL draft.

I'm an architect and builder living in Australia. I was the 2001 winner of the Energy Efficient Home of the Year award.

I'm a Photographer in the U.K. specializing in tasteful black and white nude photos. I hope Marnia's not angry because I didn't tell her. (I was gonna tell her about it, but I didn't know until just now)

I'm a 6'9", 248 lb basketball player playing for Washington State University. I'm currently a freshman, and my position is "C", which I can only assume is Center.

I'm a UK expatriate living in Albania offering custom software development services at rates lower than the cost of an in-house UK programmer. According to one of my clients: "Chris Henry has provided high quality, cost effective and timely outsourcing services to Oxford Computer Consultants since August 2003. We have been delighted with the quality of the software provided by Chris, his responsiveness and his ability to contribute to both design and development tasks. I have no hesitation to recommend ChrisÂ’ services to other organizations." Damn, I'm good.

I'm the weekday sports anchor for News World International. Also, I spent 5 years as the producer and host of "The Power Boat television show". Five years of content on power boats? Who knew.

Lastly, at least for tonight, if you would like to buy an Chris Henry paraphanelia, please visit EBay.

Remember when he used to just sit there?

So, over the last two weeks or so, Damon has decided that sitting still just isn't such a great plan. He really wishes that he could walk, but has decided that crawling is a good alternative given that he falls on his face whenever he tries to walk.

The other day, I pulled out the video camera and got a little bit of his crawling onto tape.

To view the movie, you'll need Apple's free Quicktime player installed on your computer. Also, the file's about 9.1 mb in size, so if you've got dialup, you could be in for a bit of a wait.

(note: if you right-click and choose "Save Target As..." you can save the movie to your local hard drive and watch it as many times as you want without actually having to download it again and again.)

Return to sender

Today was my day to return things.

My first stop was Best Buy, where I returned the phones we bought there a year and a half ago. At the time, I bought the extended service plan (out of character for me as these things are usually ripoffs). I know that I purchased the extended service plan because a couple of weeks ago, I found the reciept and the warranty thingie in one of our piles of stuff lying about the house. Of course, when I went to find said reciept, etc., it was nowhere to be found. We eventually found it in a file labeled "2005 - To Be Filed". So I took the phones back to Best Buy, and they gave me credit in the same amount as the original purchase. Enough so that I was able to replace our phones, buy another service plan, and still had an $9 credit that I got on a gift card. Woo Woo!

Next stop was Sears, where I wanted to return some pants that I bought in August that developed a hole in them. Normally, I'd just say "whatever", but I happened to find the receipt for the pants while looking for the phone reciept. Figured it was worth a try, especially since the back of the reciept said that Sears would take items after a "reasonable" amount of time for return. The manager told me that they've since changed their policy to 90 days, and let me exchange my pants. The ones I got were $10 less than the originals, so I walked out of Sears with a new pair of pants and a ten dollar bill. Yay for me!

Lastly, I returned some shoes that we'd purchased for Damon that were too small for him. No luck finding a pair that fit. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Photo Catch-up

Okay, so I've finally had time to upload all of the photos from the holidays.

This first set is some Black & White photos taken by our neighbor. The theme is something like "Seriously, Merry Christmas."

This is another set taken by our neighbor when Damon's cousin Alana was in town.

These were taken over the holidays and after we got home from our trip to Oregon.

January Update

So, yes, things have been a little slow around the old web site these days. I'm sure the 3.5 visitors I was getting a day have not found other sites to visit. Oh well.

Some Damon updates:
1) He's learning to crawl right now. Just tonight he was able to move forward more than a foot in the direction he intended to go.
2) He's starting to pull himself up to a standing position. He's even taken a step or two while holding onto things.
3) At his nine month checkup last week, he came in at 95th percentile for height and 90th for weight, even after losing about a pound while he was sick.

That's about it. I'm really, really gonna post all of our recent photos soon. For now, the bathtub pic above is a pretty good one.
